A Curve Ball

I think one question that has been genuinely missed is what did the OP find special about this car in the first place to consider it.

Was it the looks, the interior, the 0-60 times, build quality etc. ?

Lots of reasons to dislike something or like something, some objective but most will be subjective. Would be nice to know a true reason for the curve ball in the first place.

I'll chip into this thread as I'm not a Maserati owner but my brother has had a few, he got a petrol Ghibli (to replace a V8 4200 as linked earlier) and said it used too much fuel so chopped it for a diesel Ghibli, this lasted all of 6 months before he went back to the petrol version as it was just a 'different' car when dirty oil powered, his current one is probably a similar age (he has a private plate) as he's looking to change and not sure what to get but I will add he does around 4-5k a year and he's not told me of any major issues apart from what you would call general maintenance

I think they posted the 0-60 time of the diesel somewhere around 6.5 seconds. Even that seems optimistic. This isn't a saloon with a Ferrari engine like the petrol ones, it just looks and has the bills of one.

You are going to get a load of joyless miseries telling you how daft it is, how unreliable it'll be, how you won't be able to trust it, how you should definitely get some bland, grey, rep mobile that every other sod on your road has in their driveway too.

Ignore them. Choose life. Who cares? Pick something that's going to give you joy when you look out the window at it, and when you sit in the driver seat. Life's too short to drive dull cars.
Told you. ;)

YOLO ...But probably not for long.

Don't a lot of these need engine rebuilds?

There are fun cars, but then there are fun cars with engines which can **** themselves at any moment. Which makes them less fun.
I mean I have a Lotus...so I know brave (albeit mine is in warranty!!)...but to me that's just too cheap for that sot of car to have been looked after properly. I imagine it could produce a bill of that much at the right place...

This thread has certainly come in handy, I've been suffering a rather severe case of Monday Blues for some reason and needed a chuckle, so thanks.

The whole thread can be summarised as "I wanna buy this car agree with me or don't bother posting"

Of course asking for the thread to be closed is the icing on the cake.

Ultimately buy whatever you want, at your own peril. You've been adequately informed about the risks ;)
