i own both the Sennheiser HD595 headphones (got them when they first came out, best comfort of all time) and the HP1 barraccuda headphones from razer, not brilliant comfort, but very nice, and brilliant surround sound. although my mic on them never worked and they didnt reply to my RMA.

The Creative Fatality's are ok but suffer from major bass overload. Got mine a few days ago last week and am quite pleased with it, aside from the bass, which is just overdone and as a result they're kinda useless for music/films.

Slightly off topic but is it possible to connect both headphones and 2.1 speakers to a sound card at the same time? I don't think my soundcard has a separate headphone socket (its an SB Audigy2) so would I need some sort of splitter?

only way ive ever done anything like that is with my current soundcard, xfi elite pro which comes with the huge console and remote, the console has a jack for the old style massive jack in connection, which the hd595's have if you dont put the converter on the end. so i had my 2.1 speakers plugged in, and the hd's plugged into the console. but i never got the 5.1 baraccuda headphones to do the same thing.

That's what I thought. So all you peeps using headphones do you have to keep swapping the speakers/headphones or do you just not bother with the speakers?!

The creative fatility headset is brilliant, had mine for about 4 weeks now and its the best headset ive owned. Love the fact you can disconnect the MIC.

could always plug them into your front panel (if you have one?)

I think my X-Fi XtremeGamer auto-switches between the 2 when it detects them and cancels out the speakers...

it takes me 3 seconds to lean across to the back of my desk, unplug my 2.1 speakers and plug in 3 jacks for my 5.1 headphones. so small price to pay tbh. and as for the hd595's. i rarely use them.

Sennheisers are about the best, imo all headset that combine headphones and a mic arnt that good; I dont know why and I think its a massive gap in the market that need filling. But anyway, they are the best and you could drive a tank over em and they would still work.

Also heard lots of good and bad things about the Medusas. I think the whole 5.1 in headphones is a gimmik. With a reasonable sound card and decent stereo headphones you can pick out 3D sound without 5.1

I have had my Sennheiser PC150 's for a while now, great headset which I have never had any issues with.

Well for £30 i'm loving the Steelsound 4h headset. Decent sound, comfy and mic is great too. I wasn't sure about getting another headset made by them as my original Steelsound 5h headset was horrible! It fell apart and stopped working within months.
