A decent printer

Hi all, my littleun is coming on to 9 months now and my dad, who lives in Greece, is desperate to get some nice pictures of her sent to him! I have a HP Photosmart C4180 all-in-one which doesnt print very good pics at all!

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with decent printers/scanners that is capable of printing decent pics (that arent grainy) and can also print A3 for AutoCAD layouts.

That is an option i had thought about, but i like to tinker with the pics first and then print? Any ideas on the A3 printing also?
