Just after a few opinions on this type of shot, I know the actually subject isnt very interesting and it isnt a very good stitching job either, but I was wondering if this Donut style Panoramic is worth me spending time to try and create?

Ive seen the shot type before, but only as a product of 360degree capture devices, the idea is the camera captures a donut shot and a software package interpolates the 360degree Panoramic image from it, I basically reversed the correctly process to create the donut.

I personally like the type of shot and think I will be trying to master it for my First competition entry of the coming season.

I kind of like that.
It's very...odd.... :D

How did you do it as it's the sort of strange thing I'd like to give a go at?

Okey dokey, my basic steps were....
  • Create Normal Panoramic
  • Load into Photoshop
  • Resize Canvas to make it Square (i used 6000x6000)
  • Rotate Canvas thru 180degrees
  • Run the Filter from menu "Filters/Distort/Polar Coordinates"
  • Select Rectagular to Polar
  • Voila...
  • Resize etc...

Getting the two ends or the panoramic to line up is the hardest part I found, using the mesaure tool and drawing a line between the two ends and rotating the whole cnavas is how I did it, and then just trimming one end back a few pixels at a time until it meets nicely..

Glad to see folk havent said directly its horrid, cause I think its quite an interesting picture type and has a lot of potential.
