Hello ladies and gents!

Here's the thing, I'm looking to help a friend improve his audio experience. He's on a severe budget, was initially going to buy a cheap soundbar until I dissuaded him. I have a LEPY mini amp and a couple of 60cm speaker stands I plan to donate to his cause, his budget is 80-90ish -- I had hoped to find something along the lines of Wharfedale 9.1's, although I doubt the amp would power them particularly well even if superior to a soundbar. However, everything I see popping up second hand costs as much or more than new.

Should I tell him to pony up another £30 to just buy the 9.1's new or are there any second hand alternatives that aren't silly prices?

Speakers are not my forte, I'm more of a headphone man so I'm struggling a little with the budget even though I know it's viable.

PS I just looked on eBay and there are definately some around your price range. They sound absolutely lovely for music as long as it's not too bass heavy, I'd recommend coupling them with a sub for heavy bass use, but they sound fantastic elsewhere.

If they are the freedom variants, those are even better :)

Cheers mate, I'll take a look.

I missed a few auctions for some Mission 751's and a set of Diamond 10.1's, however I've managed to pick up a set of Monitor Audio Bronze 2's for £60 locally in near mint condition.

Cheers for the help all.
