For some strange reason the Ethernet port has stop working on my motherboard, Iv un-installed the drivers & put them back on & iv tried 2 different cables but it still wont work.

Lucky enough iv found a old network card & that works fine it my pc.

So the question i wont to know is would you be bothered with all the hassle to send it back & be with out a PC until they test it & send you another board or as everything works fine using the network card would you stay with that.

Plus if i dont send it back would i be running the risk of other parts of the board not working in the future?

My motherboard is Biostar TSeries TA790GX 128M
Cheers

Erm,
Well it's never reassuring when a bit on your board dies, it makes you think the chances of something else on it keeling over a hundred times higher. If your warrenty is coming up then yeah I would send it back, but if you have ages then I wouldn't bother.

Chris.

for me it depends if you are likely to upgrade the system around the motherboard if yes, then send it back.

If when you plan to upgrade you want a new motherboard or need a new socket type then probably wouldn't.

qusetion is can you live without your coputer for the time required to fix it, and how long have you owned it, if it's less than two weeks claim distance selling act, if it's more contact the manufacturers and see how long rma takes

Thanks for the input,

I got the motherboard March this year so there is still plenty of time left on the warranty, i believe its 12 months with a motherboard.

The PC is used all the time so it would be hard to live with out it for a while.

I was hoping the system iv got would last a good 18months before i would consider upgrading & then i would have only maybe upgraded the CPU.

I guess as everything else is working at the moment & there is no rule saying if got to send it back the moment i see a problem im thinking maybe i could leave it a couple of months then send it back as we should have a laptop then, so at least can still access the net etc

Maybe you could get them to send you out a replacement and then return the faulty one. Most won't I'd say but get someone who understands customer service and they just might.

I've done it myself, was with a PSU, I explained that I needed the PC for work and couldn't be without it, they very kindly agreed to send me one out so I wouldn't be without my PC.

It could be just a one off thing with your motherboard, but then it could be a sign of things to come. I think if it was me I'd want 100% of the product I'd paid for.
