So after way too many years of not getting around to it I've started to scan in some of the motorsport pics my father took back in the mid 70s.

There aren't many in the full set of prints I have, and only done a couple to start with. I've got 3 boxes of pictures and negatives to sort through at some point, but in 6 years I've not even opened them yet, need some time!

Not sure if this is the right place for them but I know some of the members here (Housey) like this sort of thing ;)

First this was my favourite out the bunch

Some of the chaps over on the Autosport forum amazingly were able to identify the exact day/race this was taken at, with one of the chaps there having taken a similar shot of the same pit garage from the opposite side!

The picture is of the works Ferrari pits during the 1972 World Sports Prototype championship.

Aussie driver Tim Schenken is talking to Ronnie Peterson in the backgrond, with Jacky Ickx lounging in the foreground.

The car is a Ferrari 312PB

Next is a shot of Jody Scheckter in 1975 I think, at Silverstone

One of Nikki Lauda in 1976 at Brands (I think!)

And last one so far was one he took that got published, Tony Brise in 1975 about to meet 'Griffin the Pigeon'. It did not end well for the pigeon.

That's it for now, I know I've got a few more F1 shots to do, Andretti and Hunt feature in those, plus a fair few other non F1 races.

Will try to get a few more done soon, planning to get a canvas or two made up from the higher res scans.

Was your dad a professional photographer, or just a very fortunate and skilled amateur?

Some great shots, I can't wait to see what else you find.

Not by trade no, 'just' a decent enough amateur I think who used to get the odd thing published in Motoring News and Autosport now and again.

Am guessing its also largely early and mid seventies stuff, then he moved away from London and didn't really get the chance to do any more which is a shame in some respects.

I have a small folder with about 25 or so prints in, likely his sort of showcase of best shots, all B+W mounted on black A4 card/paper, as well as 3 boxes of negatives and small 5x7 type prints which have all sorts in I think. Will be most of the family photo type stuff in there but am hoping there might be some more of the motorsport stuff too :)

And a few more of the remaining F1 prints I have in the folder

James Hunt in a 1975 Hesketh

James Hunt battling in a 1977 Mclaren

Mario Andretti (can't place the year, '76 or '77?)

John Watson in the pits in his 1977 Brabham

And lastly no idea what this one is but I liked it

That's it I think for the F1 prints I have, about another 15 or so of random non F1 single seaters and touring car type stuff as well.
