Nice photos. I had a dabble once and purchased an ioptron sky guider Pro, but gave up due to the weather :(
Thanks, I started with that mount, the weather was certainly a factor but the main problem was my inability to point it at suitable targets because of my lack of knowledge of what was where in the sky.
Moving to a goto mount to use with software solved all of that.

Amazing. I wouldn't even know where to begin.
No one does but having a background as a hobbyist photographer helps a bit but not as much as you'd think. It's basically learning something quite alien from the ground up.
I learned all about PC building and overclocking from this forum many years ago, when I retired I learned about photography from a UK based forum and I learned about astronomy and astrophotography from forums and YouTube.
It's without doubt the most difficult technology based thing I've ever grappled with particularly at my advanced age. I may be able to produce some nice images but my total knowledge of the subject remains relatively small compared to others.

Loving these photos, always something I have wanted to get into. I have been following AstroBackyard for a couple of years but never pulled the trigger on a scope, astrocamera and mount etc.

AstroBackyard on YT is a good starting point for learning.
Subbed!

Yeah, great photos @footman. I have to admit I've always turned my nose up a bit at astrophotography because I'm not sure i'd get much enjoyment out of the post processing aspect of it... As in, I'm under the impression, you can't just whip out your telescope, look through the lens and go "oh, that's nice, I'll take a photo of that"

But yeah... these photos are great, and to be able to recreate them yourself would be quite an achievement. I can see this being another rabbit hole I go down...

It can be a rabbit hole indeed but then many hobbies can turn out like that. One way of getting images of deep space objects easily is by using a so called smart telescope which only requires an initial setting up outside after which you can sit inside in the warm, the unit then does everything else.

The telescope can also do the post processing automatically, the images are ok, probably akin to "record shots" in terrestrial photography, but not as good as those made with "conventional" astrophotography gear and post processing.
