5500 is 8% faster than a 5700LE on paper - in practise I highly doubt you'd notice anything between them performance wise... (assuming like for like memory configs)...
I was quite suprised to see how much better the 9700pro was than the x600 pro tho - I'd have said the x600 would have been slightly faster when infact its almost a third slower.
