Last chance to spec everything and get all the final views before buying! (Yay)

Though I am not entirely sure about the motherboard and RAM... this is what the spec looks like.

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB)
BFG GeForce 7950 GX2 1024MB GDDR3
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music
Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Silver)
Seasonic S12 600W Silent ATX2.2 Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200KS SATA-II 16MB Cache x2
Samsung SH-W163 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter
Scythe Ninja Plus Heatpipe CPU Cooler
Akasa AK-183-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan - 3 pin x3
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
Western Digital Secure Connect

...and here we go, what do you think?

I'm not totally sure about the motherboard either, I think there may have been some initial problems but hopefully they have been sorted out. The Ram is good stuff though from what I know.

Why the 7950? They aren't compatible with all motherboards so you need to check that out. The X1900XT is almost certainly a better buy, it is about half the price but offers most of the performance and unless you are playing at stupidly high resolutions it ought to be more than enough.

I'd change the WD hard drive to a Seagate 7200.10 as it is faster which means you don't need the WD SecureConnect lead but other than that it should be a good system.

It seems to be the most popular motherboard at the moment, and I do like the addition of a remote for it :D

It was either that or a Gigabyte one... and I don't think I can wait much longer for new boards to hit the market.

I am not a fan of ATi and will be loyal to GeForce, and if it was not the 7950 it would be the BFG GeForce 7900 GTX OC 512MB GDDR3 and so for the £68 difference I get twice the power. Anyway I have not seen many complaints between the 7950 & the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi.

I must admit, I did not think there was much difference between the WD & the Seagate other then price and the smallest speed increase...

The GX2 wont work on that motherboard. You wont find a good conroe board for sli till nforce500 is released. The GX2 requires an sli chipset.

If I were you, I'd get the x1900xt since its a stonking card at an amazing price and spent the money saved on some cooler toys like a 5.1 thx setup and fatality soundcard  much more fun than a few extra fps which u wont notice

Looks like a lot of people will be buying similar specs over the next couple of weeks (myself included)

Here's what i've come up with

Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey (MO-011-DE) - 305.44

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN) - 252.57
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-152-AS) - 164.44
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL) - 129.19

HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-053-HT) - 229.07
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Edition + HS600 £29.99 Gaming Headset Bundle - Retail (SC-041-CL) - 145.11

2 x (Raid-0) Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-079-SE) - 123.50
Samsung SH-S182D 18x18 DVD±RW ReWriter (Black) (CD-078-SA) - 24.62

Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case - No PSU (CA-005-AK) - 82.19
3 x Akasa AK174CB-4BLB 120mm Blue LED Fan (FG-008-AK) - 28.02
2 x Akasa SATA-2 45cm Silver Data Cable (CB-053-GE) - 8.22

================
Total - £1492.37
================

I've already got a few things like ninja, 800w tagan, windows etc etc

I was thinking about the gigabyte but read on extremesystems that the conroes with 4mb cache are better suited to the 975 chipset for some reason. I also like the wifi :-)

Gibbo tells us that the Geil 6400 is THE ram for conroes :D

I would get the segates over the wd anyday. They are more reliable and WAY faster.

I have not seen anyone complain about the compatabiliy of the GX2 and the Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi, and I thought that the point of the GX2 was for it not to require an SLi board... as it is technically one card rather then two in SLi mode....

Will definatly change over to the Seagate HDD's, not too sure on the GeIL RAM though, again read more posts with problems with that RAM and motherboards :p

Other then that I was already looking at the Philips 200W6CS 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor and Altec Lansing MX5021 2.1 Speaker System White.

Much prefer the Antec P180 too, looks better to start with...

Any benefit to SATA DVD-RW over the usual IDE?
