I'll make excuses first as I'm not looking on my calibrated monitor.
It seems that you could have done with better lighting as it looks very overhead and contrasty. Just a few thoughts...
3. The character is walking out of the frame so looks in the wrong place.
7. The banister is neither central enough nor off to one side enough and it's also a little wonky. The bannister in the centre could work but you're usually better off on one of the thirds.
8. This one is my favourite but it would be good to see some of the shadow details. I think you've whacked the contrast up too much and the interesting bit (the statue and the girl) have been blocked out too much. I think it needs a bit more subtlety.
The rest I find nice photos but not particularly striking. As I said the lighting isn't good. If you could go back at dusk or dawn with a tripod you could have had some great shots.

Thanks for the tips. I've reprocessed number 8 - any better now? Thats always the bugger about holiday snapping, you usually go out during the midday sun when every thing is mega contrasted, and your shots suffer for it. I aimed to try and get more interesting composures regardless of light and in some I think I was successfull, in others not so. Its learning to move from the general holiday snapper mode to amatuer-pro photographer mode thats tricky!
Very nice shots, only one thing i would say is that the first one could do with a bit more saturation. Oh, and the editing on the last one looks really nice, a good use of b/w white editing.
