Right here goes, Im putting together a cheap and cheerfull rig.

What I have in mind so far is;

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard £96.34

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.80GHz (800FSB) - Retail £81.06

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £68.14

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £176.24

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £72.84

First things first, I dont really have a budget but that said I don't need a stupidly good computer. The games I play I normally run on no higher than 1024x768 unless its a RTS then sometimes I jump to 1280x1024 the max my 17" TFT supports. I'm not bothered about running games on max settings either, medium settings and a steady reasonably high frame rate is all I require.

What kind of frames could I expect for those games on say 1024x768 mediumish settings?

The CPU is only a 2MB cache is it worth going up to the 4mb cache versions or not? Like I say I'm mainly a gamer oh and I'm running windows XP not Vista.

Last but not least would that PSU support the system easily enough?

Any recommended changes please let me know.

That would run all the mentioned games on max settings with reasonable FPS. If you want to bump it up a little more for another £40 you could bump up the ram to Cellshock PC6400/G. Skill HZ PC6400/Ballistix PC5300 and get a Tuniq Tower/Noctua and overclock the CPU and RAM to kingdom come.
