No, not the sequel to 'One night in Paris', this is a request for help on how much a few nights in Paris will cost me.

I've worked out so far that, going in the first week of July (1st to 8th), flights with easyJet will cost £60 each return, Eurostar will be £49 each return, flights with BA will be £90 each return.

How much will a hotel cost for two of us, roughly? And can any Frenchies, or Frenchophiles, reccommend a decent area of Paris to stay in? We're 18, so lots to do, but not absurdly pricey.

Just came back from a weekend in paris for my girlfriends 18th, we stayed at the neuilly park hotel ( http://www.hotelneuillypark.com/ ) and it was great, the street it is on is fantastic, with a boulongerie (sp?) two doors away, a wine shop next door and a fantastic restraunt at the top of the street (Durand Dupont - v. expensive mind you)

I have pics of the hotel/street if you would like to see any :)

Shame :(

But I agree I do love Paris - hence why I miss it so much. Maybe I might move back there - and then we can have a Paris meet!! I still think that's a good idea! :D

hang on:

As a result, it's no longer legal to publish current photographs of the Eiffel Tower at night without permission. Technically, this applies even to amateurs. When I spoke to the Director of Documentation for SNTE, Stéphane Dieu, via phone last week, he assured me that SNTE wasn't interested in prohibiting the publication of amateur photography on personal Web sites. "It is really just a way to manage commercial use of the image, so that it isn't used in ways we don't approve," said Mr. Dieu.

WIN!

I'll say hello to it for you tomorrow.

Personally I can't stand the place, but that's just my view. I suppose having made over 100 trips there for business may have clouded my judgement slightly ;)

Same, I much prefer London as a City. And that's not me being narrow minded. If I had to be anywhere, it'd be Annecy in the Haute-Savoie region of Eastern France.

Ah gay Paris...Make sure you do the usual things...Go up the tower, admire the view, take a boat trip along the Seine, visit the Louvre, absorb another culture, perfect *the French shrug*, be treated like a dog, join the local students in setting fire to cars et cetera... ;)

I had a trip there in Feb and stayed at the Terrass hotel in Montmartre, close to loads of places to eat, Sacre Coeur, Moulin Rouge etc - got a cheap all-in one package including Eurostar via the web somewhere, there's plenty of deals around.

That I can understand and don't feel offended by that - Paris is very much love/hate sort of place. Having been brought up there part of my life I do have an affinity for it. I prefer it to London - but that's because I live in London and I've grown bitter to it no doubt.

Tomorrow I shall be in Antibes - the French riviera/Cote d'azur is a place I really don't mind being in spite of work! Unfortunately there are no yachts in Paris :(

I'm looking to take the woman too, looking to stay in a 4* hotel, 2-3 nights over a weekend in May. Any recomendations? I'd preferre to be near the river and central.

Also, I'm near heathrow, could ne1 advise on EuroStar or Plane? I.e., Is the hassle in train stations worth avoiding the 1.5-2hr waiting about in airports. I've never used the chunnel.

Also, how much does a taxi cost from Charles-DeGaulle to the city center?

Fanks :D

Freefaller, are you French? If so I must apologise as I made a rather rude French joke earlier about Andy's Rover, hope it did not cause offence.
