Hi guys, I've just completed my new build but have a couple of problems I need some help with. The main one is that I seem to have no sound working on this 680i motherboard, I'm using onboard sound for nowe but may buy a Audigy or something. I get the occasional crackle or few notes of sound but that's it. It isn't the speakers because they are working fine in my laptop! I've updated to the lates BIOS from Nvidia and everything, dunno why the onboard sound isn't working?

Next is I installed an Akasa AK-183-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan - 3 pin
to the rear of my PC and plugged it into the power fan connector (number 30 on diagram 1 in the manual) and it isn't working either? Any ideas on that too please!?

I know this sounds stupid but are you sure
you have it plugged in to the correct input
a crackle sometimes sounds like it's plugged into the wrong input.

Hi I know what you mean and thought that myself so I checked the mobo manual and also tried plugging it into every input there is at the back, still nothing.

Hi to solve the Audio issues you need to update your BIOS in order to fix the problem. Yes it is a known issue between the 680i and Creative Labs Sound Cards.

With the fan that will require a molex connector from your PSU.

OK well I finally got it working. I am using onboard sound atm which is ok for my needs until I move house (less stuff to move). I downloaded the latest Realtek drivers for the onboard sound (Realtek HD Audio Manager) and couldn't get it working then either. But because I have old speakers with only one jack input I worked out I needed to click the "Device advanced settings" and then the "separate all input jacks as independent devices" and I now have sound! :D

I also got the fan working by plugging it into a different onboard input so dunno what was wrong with the other one, but it's ok because I have another one spare for the second fan I plan on installing. So It looks like My system is all up and running now and I am one very happy chappy! ;)

Belinea 22"
Nvidia 680i mobo
Intel Core Duo 2.4 (E6600)
2gig 8500 ram
400gig and 170gig hdds
GeForce 8800gts
Corsair 620watt
etc etc

Just need a decent 7.1 speaker system (and maybe Soundcard) to replace these old two I have atm.
