Hi guys,
Got a PS3 yesterday with GT5 and Casino Royale, also the Logitech GT wheel.
I have quite a few questions that I am interested in knowing/am confused about:

1.Is it possible to download demos in a low power mode like the 360, since I start downloading something, and when I push the power button, it just switches itself off.

2.Tried playing Casino Royale blu ray, and its got huge black bars letterboxing it, like half a metre long on each side:eek:

3. In GT5, everything looks fine, but when I go into the cockpit view, the dashboard and wheel etc. look very dark even when in the sunlight, any way to correct this or is this what it is meant to be like?

4. My Logitech GT Wheel, when I tried doing a time trial on GT5, it seems to have a mind of its own sometimes turning itself :/
Also, when I turn into large corners, it feels like its resisting me, is this normal?? Also finding it hard to drive, but that must just be that I'm crap:p

Thats about all thats on my mind for now, thanks in advance for answering the questions, and I'm loving the PS3!:D

Don't know how I would go about adjusting it for GT5 since its only the cockpit that is dark :/
Everything else looks fine and bright...

2.35:1 doesn't fit on 16:9 TVs so you'll get black bars at top and bottom.

Thats perfectly normal

1) cant be done

2) normal im afraid. its the aspect rati of most bluraqy material, you'll have to get used to it

3) difficult to tell fi yours is ok or too dark. they are supposed to be dark though, yes.

there are problems with the shadows in gt5 if thats what you mean, they can be very aliased especially in the cockpit view.

you should start by making sure your tv and ps3 are set up correctly http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496

For 2 you can always use the zoom feature on your TV like you would when watching standard (ie non-widescreen) pictures. You lose a bit of quality and of course some of the picture, but it still looks great and depending on the film is sometimes better. For example if its a slow movie with lots of talking you don't really need to see everything, so it can be nice to have a bigger picture. Action movies and stuff like that look better in their standard mega-widescreen mode though!

So can I set the PS3 to switch itself off after its downloaded all the demos or after a certain amount of time?
Thanks for the answers guys:)

1. Nope
2. Check your TV settings. Black bars top and bottom are normal. Most movies are 2.35:1, A widescreen TV is 1.78:1
3. It is quite dark - it's realistic. Try calibrating your TV or disabling any fancy image enhancement modes.
4. It's called force feedback :D

Haha, I know that Magic, but I can hear it when i turn sharply make that mechanical noise like when it is off and you turn it, but why does it start moving on its own too, it scares me!:p

It's just like a real car, if the front wheels aren't straight and you let go of the wheel when a car is moving, the front wheels straighten themselves and the steering wheel returns to centre. It's supposed to resist you too, it's trying to emulate the forces you'd feel through the steering wheel of a real car when cornering. Turn down the FF strength a bit if it freaks you out :)

Don't worry about breaking it by pushing against the resistance, and don't worry about noises, it has motors, gears and belts in there.

# A background download will be temporarily stopped when any of the following operations are performed. The download will be restarted automatically once the operation has completed.
# - When playing a Blu-ray Disc or DVD
# - When using network features of online games *
# - When starting PlayStation®2 format software
# - When starting (Folding@home™)
# - When using voice / video chat
# - When performing a system update
# - When adjusting setting items under (Settings)

* While a game is in process of ending, background downloading will be stopped temporarily.

which is pretty lame, such a "powerful system" but it cant handle downloading a demo and playing a MOVIE DISC at the same time

Thanks fish99, put my worries to rest. How do you go about turning the FF down??

Also, can I play a normal PS3 game like GT5 while stuff is downloading:confused:

Yes, as long as the game is not connected to PSN. GTA4, for example, connects even when playing singleplayer (to check for updates I think) which causes downloads to pause.
