hi all,

i was wondering if anyone has bought a one of theses from dell this month or not so long ago and if they could tell me the pannel model number was also wondering if everyone on ocuk who has bought there panel from dell could tell me the panel model number as i really want the Lg SIPS one and have heard you can get almost anyhting like PVAs etc

Yeah, this is a common misconseption. The 2007FP (4:3 version) has been known to come with both S-IPS and PVA panels. The WS 2007WFP comes with an S-IPS panel (LM201W01) from LG.Philips

erm i think these instructions will work but it may be different as this was foe a 1905fp

1- Turn off your screen
2- Press simultaneously the 'Menu' and '+' button of the screen.
3- While holding the 2 buttons press now the 'Power' button.
4- Once the screen in ON, unpress the 3 buttons.
5- Go to OSD menu (by pressing 'Menu' button) then select the 'Reinit' option (red point at the bottom of menu).
6- Select 'Factory' option.
7- You can see now the panel manufacturer

so is everyone gtting the LM201W01 and not the LM201WE3 that some US people are getting

as far as i know the LM201W01 is the main panel being used, not seen the LM201WE3 really although have heard some reports that it has been supplied in some cases. Have you seen a lot of reports of this?

To find out which panel is in a Dell 2xx7 screen

1- Turn off your screen
2- Press simultaneously the 'Menu' and '+' button of the screen.
3- While holding the 2 buttons, press now the 'Power' button.
4- Once the screen in ON, unpress the 3 buttons.
5- Just press '-' button.

edit: it's changed slightly since the old range which has been posted above

so baddas would you upgrade to a dell 2007wfp or get a second Lg l1780Q and have a dual screen setup, bearing in mind i will be buying this monitor direct from dell ( hope this isnt against the rules please modifiy if it is )

depends on your needs really. A single WS monitor of extra size would be better for gaming and movies certainly since using dual screens for this purpose isn't really practicle or easy. You would benefit from the larger screen size and improvement in resolution for office and web work as well, and S-IPS certainly offers some advantages over TN Film technology (as used in the L1780Q). The Dell also has a wealth of connectivity options and functionality. It's a very nice screen, I was quite impressed with it when I tested it and it's a good price as well.

On the flip side you already have an L1780Q and so buying a second one would be cheaper. Dual screens can be nice for mulit-tasking if you#'re doing a lot of web work or programming for example. There's no denying the LG's are sexy in appearance too.

I think if it were me, i'd want a single larger screen but as i said, it depends on what you want from the screen/sreeens over all

Thanks a lot Baddas think im going to go with the dell widescreen as its on offer at the moment i can always sell my Lg im just hoping this dell is as good as everyone says it is

edit: are there any known problems with these screens as they are using the same panel as the old model which had backlight issues

backlight bleeding on the 2005FPW was down to build quality rather than the panel being used and has been greatly cleared up with the 2007WFP. There is some slight bleed in the corners in some cases, but this is evident on many many TFT's and is not really a problem for most people. I noticed some corner bleed on the version I tested, but it was minimal and not distracting from the use of the screen in practice. One thing you may read about is the "colour banding" issue which was a problem in early A00 releases but has since been all but cleared up in the latest A02 revision, now being supplied. Apart from that, no real major issues remaining with the 2007WFP for the majority of people :)

Not that I have noticed :) One dead pixel on secondary, its red and near bottom left - its very hard to see, I can only find it if I look really hard on black background.
