So I'm pretty much decided that I will do a custom loop for my next build but have a couple of questions.

Is there any advantage to buying a D5 PWM pump? I know everyone recommends D5 vario pumps but I'm not sure I see their benefit.

What's the best way to mount pumps and reservoirs? I was looking at sponge pads for the pump; they look pretty cool (not sure how you secure them though).

What fans should I use with a low fpi rad (between 10 and 20 fpi)? I am a MASSIVE quiet freak and so high fpi rads with pressure optimised fans are not looking very inviting to me.

Thanks :)

Turn the DDC down i have mine connected to a fan controller. The one remaining HDD is the loudest thing in my pc.

If shawy is talking about his 9ine04 build, I don't think he has any room for a fan controller :( That is a fantastic idea, though. I think I might try that one in this next build. Especially as I want to put a pump cap/case on my pump and, with a vario pump, once the cap/case is on, you can't adjust the speed.

Apologies for the thread-jack.

When choosing fans, is it better to get the highest RPM and run it at lower speed or get something from the middle of the range? Does an 1800rpm fan at half speed sound the same as a 900rpm fan from the same range?

I can understand getting faster fans to give enough cooling if you need it, but assuming that you've got plenty of cooling and you've space for a fan controller, what's best?

If the fans are good quality and will undervolt gracefully and your fan controller can undervolt them to a low enough RPM then go for the higher RPM fans if they're the same price. e.g. I was looking at an NZXT sentry fan controller and it can't go any lower than 40% voltage so I can't get the fastest NB e-loops because they wouldn't go quiet enough for my liking.
There shouldn't be any difference in performance so, if the mid speed or low speed options are cheaper then you might as well go for those
