Have been trying to get CPU-Z to run today, but whenever it loads it causes Vista 64 to lockup and i have to restart it. The program was running fine yesterday as i used it for 8 hours to check for stability, buit today it locks up my system. When i was using it yesterday however i did notice that when the system was idle it listed the mulitplier at x6.0 althought in bios i have selected x9.0, this does increase once i run Prime95 however to x9.0. Im guessing there must be an option within the bios for intels equivalent to cool and quite, but i cant see anything that relates to it??

the multiplier "problem" is intel speedstep, when it is on it will lower the multiplier when your cpu is idle and take it up when it is not. you can turn it off in your bios

You will need to disable C1E & EIST in the BIOS and if your running Vista check your
power settings in Control Panel.

Does this effect any stability testing if its on?? Also after i have gotten to a stable cpu speed is it best to leave this on or off??

Turning it off will not hurt your current overclock, but leaving it enabled means your pc will using less power & producing less heat when idle.

Leave it on for the time being you can easly disable if want at later date.
