A few questions about upcoming monitor purchase

Key points:
- I am buying a monitor in approx 1 month
- My rig has an i7 6700k & EVGA GTX 1080 FTW
- I need a resolution wider than 1080p for web coding
- Budget is roughly £400-700

Questions:
- Is GSYNC considerably noticeable? I had a freesync monitor before with an AMD build and could hardly notice the difference, screen tearing doesn't bother me all that much.
- Is 144hz considerably noticeable for gaming? I have heard that some people can hardly notice the difference.
- Is it a good idea to go with two 1080p 144hz monitors over one 1440p 144hz? and can it be done cheaper?
- Is it worth getting a high quality 4k monitor with a 1ms refresh rate even at only 60hz if only casual gaming?

Thanks for any replies, i just want to gain all the facts before i unburden my wallet.

The primary benefit of GSync and FreeSync is lack of tearing and a smoother experience. If you don't care about tearing then it shouldn't be an important factor for you. If you didn't see a difference with FreeSync, you won't with GSync either. However, it's getting to the point where FreeSync is more of a standard feature that doesn't necessarily have a price premium so don't discount screens that have it. GSync is more expensive though, so steer clear if you don't care about it.

Can't answer this since I run my 144 Hz screen at 60 Hz until I get my new GPU. :D

Why would you want two 144 Hz screens? The only real use for >60 Hz is gaming (except for some specialist applications) and who games on two monitors? One or three, sure, but two? I'm pretty sure one 1440p 144 Hz monitor would be a bit cheaper.

Depends whether you prefer sharpness or smoothness. Usually I'd say if you're "casually" gaming it's very unlikely you'll have a GPU that can drive 2160p at anything near 60 Hz but you have a GTX 1080 so I guess that could work.

Seems like DragonQ already answered most of the points, but here's my take:

1080p width:
You mean wider than 1920, right? Because the 1080 is actually the height. Would 21:9 and 2560x1080 be ok, or do you want 16:9? Next stop would be 2560x1440, and after that 3440x1440.

G-Sync:
I think FreeSync is simply awesome (at least with 144Hz and LFC). If you didn't notice a difference (and assuming you had it enabled), then chances are G-Sync won't bring anything extra to the table, either. In which case you can save a couple hundred by not going for G-Sync.

144Hz:
Noticeable against what? Against 100Hz/120Hz, not that much. But against 60Hz, it certainly should be. But if you're keeping detail levels so high that you're "only" hitting around 60fps anyway, then 144Hz certainly can't provide the full potential it normally would.

2vs1:
Kind of depends on your workflow. Personally I would invest more in one better monitor, rather than two mediocre ones.

4k:
Depends on the monitor's diagonal size, your viewing distance and your own eye sight. If you can benefit from the pixel density, and don't mind keeping detail settings slightly lower, nor mind the 60Hz limit, then sure, higher resolution can be good.
