Right so i've just put together my machine and it's running like a dream except for a few minor issues. Here are the components

Product Name Price Qty Line Total
"Radon Allosaur" Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.40GHz Overclocked Bundle - Asus £358.32 1 £358.32
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-00599) £66.66 1 £66.66
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5670 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card £51.66 1 £51.66
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) £33.32 1 £33.32
BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W Power Supply £33.32 1 £33.32
OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £12.49 1 £12.49

1. I have the DVD drive plugged into a 3gb Sata, is this right or should it be 6gb

2. I have my 1TB Hard Drive plugged into the 6gb Marvell Sata is this better than the regular 6gb sata?

3. Should I plug my 2nd hard drive into a 6gb Marvell Sata too, bearing in mind that I wont be using RAID.

4. I recieve a CPU error upon booting up the pc, the cpu fan is running great though. It only has 3 pins though, and the motherboard has 4 pins for cpu fan. In BIOS the cpu fan doesn't display RPM, it simply allows me to monitor, or ignore. Ignore gets rid of CPU error messages. Does this sound ok?

5. The pre overclocked bundle doesn't appear to be overclocked, is there a profile I can select somehow in the BIOS to fix this?

Thanks in advance I really appreciate any help with this :)

1). You're right - it's S-ATA 3GB/s, but it won't make a difference in the 6GB/s :p

2/3). Neither of the HDDs you have are SSDs, correct? So you can put them both in S-ATA 3GB/s and save the 6GB/s port for when you get an SSD :) They won't go into RAID unless you set RAID up ;)

4). Not sure I'll admit - error could be because you need 4 pins for PWM (Anyone else clarify this?)

5). Yeah, it's a profile in the BIOS - I'm unfamiliar with the P8P67 BIOS though so I personally can't help you there (could ring OcUK?)

awesome cheers guys so all my hard drives and dvd drives should be in 3gb sata really.

I think I might have found the overclocked profile, is there a way to see how fast my cpu is actually running. It still says it's at 3.30GHz if i check in my computer - properties. Also in the BIOS it staits that it is 3.30Ghz too

in the bios there will be an option to ignore cpu error.... choose this if you know your heatsink is on fine and the fan is running.....download coretemp and check your cpu temp there...when your happy with your temps then disable the warning message ;) otherwise it will do your head in before long

yup i've disabled the fan error. Coretemp said the cores were running at 25C which seems pretty darned cool. Cheers guys

6. Does anyone know how to get the overclocked profile working on a P8P67 mobo? I can see it and select it, but it doesn't seem to do anything

Speedstep may be enabled, try running prime95 or intel burn test and see if it goes to the overclocked speed. coretemp or cpu-z will tell you the correct speed.

Thanks mate, yeah coretemp says its 3300.03MHz, I must be doing something wrong in the BIOS. I'll keep an eye out for speedstep and cool n quiet, and disable them if I see them.

You don't need to disable it, you can't be loading the profile correctly.

Did you not get instructions on how to load the the profile, if not i would get in touch with ocuk.
