ok im in need for a bit of help

ive got a 3700 san diego
Abit AN8 SLi nForce4
1gb of 3200 gell ram
running of xp pro

now all i need is a GFX card to get it back up and running as the last card went pop on me, but the thing is the pc has been sitting around for about 4-6 months,
now and with the new processors out is it worth just doing a full up grade or is it just worth getting a GFX card to get my pc up and running,
the other question i have is if i was going to go with the new processors will i have to change the opperating system e.g from xp pro to vista

i could go up to about 300-400 quid if i was going to upgrade if anyone one could help me out i would be most greatfull, its just that over the past year or so i have totaly lost track of the upgrades so im in need of help

Regards Heero

Hi there,

Welcome to the forums. I would suggest building a complete system rather than just a GPU for now. You don't need to move to Vista with a new CPU, if you already have XP then I would recommend sticking with that. (I'm waiting for a service pack before I make my move to Vista).

Do you require just the tower and components or is this a full system inc. monitor etc?

Here is my recommendation. Out of the box it would perform very nicely. With that motherboard, CPU, RAM and cooler you will be able to overclock easily and effectively. For just over £400 this would be a sweet setup.

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £59.99
(£70.49)
Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink £27.99
(£32.89)
Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
(£19.96)
Samsung SpinPoint T HD160HJ 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM £31.99
(£37.59)
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £84.99

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £49.99
