I've never posted in here but thought I'd give it a go now. Currently I have a very crappy very old L reg Clio (and I'm very embarassed by it). I would say that until some **** kicked the driver side door in (nice dent in it now thanks whoever it was) it was worth around 250 quid. It's MOT is due and I'm sure it will fail on at least the brakes.

Now, would it be cheaper to get the brakes fixed, then the MOT, or the MOT done and get the brakes fixed then a retest? WHat do you recommend?

Cheers

If you are sure the brakes need work then get them done first, coould save you a retest fee though on a car of that age there is likely to be something else that it will fail on but at least you have a chance

How much do you think new brakes will cost?

Also, if your car fails dont they have to retest it for free? The first time mine failed that was what I was told.

Free retests are not offered due to the new MOT system...unless a garage you know use the old system.

depends whats wrong. if its simply a change of pads and brakes then i would guess around 50 quid? if its just pads then 20ish.
