My motherboard is an old DFI Infinity NFII ( I think )

And my processor is an xp2500.

The question is, I want to upgrade my motherboard and processor, but will my ram be compatable with the latest stuff?, i really know nothing about current systems.

Its just that i need a good upgrade, but also need to save as much cash as poss.

What is my best option right now?

You could get an ASRock Dual-VSTA motherboard, it supports Conroe, AGP+PCI-E, DDR+DDR2 so you cover pretty much all bases and it should cost around £40 although it isn't available from OcUK as far as I am aware. You would then need a Core 2 Duo CPU (Conroe) which will set you back another £100 or so for the 6300 + CPU cooler - Arctic Freezer 7 for ~£15.

Then it is up to you if you want to spend any more buying a new graphics card or whatever but the basics should set you back just over £150. :)

Thanks for that answer semi pro, gonna look into that.

yeah my ram is DDR, i didnt realise motherboards could be so versatile these days. Ill have to consider the mobo you mentioned. And look at one of the x1950 graphics card jobbies.

that should give me a good upgrade for about 300 quid altogether! Which is about the most i want to spend anyway.

sweet :)
