Hope you can help me with this;

Had to reinstall completely after netframeworks 1.1 messed up my bootdrive and I cant remember how to do a few things)

1) How do I get rid of the annoying "balloons" that appear above system tray icons?

2) How do I set windows to log in automatically ( my password is already saved, but it still goes to the log in screen rather than straight to desktop)

3) Do I reallyu need NetFrameworks for ATI CCC to work ? I dotn have it currently installed ( its certainly not showing in add / remove programs) but I was advised this is crucial to ATI Control Centre?

any answers would be gratefully recieved thank you

dont be scared of the .net frameworks, you probably had something wrong already if they messed up your pc..

download 'tweakui' on microsoft's site for the first 2 questions!

or..

start
run
control userpasswords2

then untick 'users must enter a password to use this computer'

get the .net 1.1 and 2.0 from here

http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/

they're repackaged switchless installers, the site looks dodgy, but its used by LOADS of people

Thanks for your help

ummm I think you misunderstood me regarding the passowrd thing. I dont have to ever enter it, but it still gives me the blue log in screen on start up with the Administrator account on view (as soon as you click the little icon, it goes straight to desktop) but I know you can skip this entirely.

I am pretty certain there qwas nothing wrong with my pc before, I keep it upto date s/w wise and there was no issues when I was using the Omega 6.1 drivers - just wary of Net Frameworks is all - what is it actually used for?

Yes, do as bledd says

Thats interesting, I just did that and it came up with the users profiles from CP - which you would expect - but it didnt know the Admin password that i used when installing XP

anyway thank you both

Just d/l frameworks 2.0 as I guess this is the most recent and little point in having 1.1 now

Sorry I saw that initially and sorted that - thank you

I just remember having to put in a password for this account when I installed windows - and yet when I wanted to de-activate it, windows asked me again for the password and to reconfirm ( as if it didnt have one originally), i was just surprised is all
