I am looking to upgrade to a sandy bridge very soon i jsut want to ask a few questions before i take the plunge.

Its my understanding that the i5 cores overclock better then the i7 ones. With that in mind is there any reason to spend the extra on getting a i7 when it will be only used for gaming.

My second question is do the integrated graphics have any effect on in game preformance when you have a graphics card installed or is it jsut for systems without a graphics card.

Actually I think the i7s clock higher on average. However, performance boost in games is minimal clock-for-clock unless the game can take advantage of more than 4 cores. As far as I know, there are very few that can do this.

i5-2500K is considered the better gaming chip unless you have extra money to spare.

if all you do is game then there's no reason to go i7, as for the integrated graphics, they have zero effect on performance when there's a dedicated graphics card in the system as they are disabled in bios, just the same way they would be if you build a rig using a mobo with onboard gfx, then add a gfx card at a later date.

Thanks for the responces and clearing things up for me :) will be going for the i5-2500k then.
