Pretty good trip, Im back there in a couple of weeks so I'll take some different lenses. Any one recommend something else to visit that I didn't?

Thanks for looking :)

good stuff. I like the candid / people shots the most. The trouble with rome is taking some original, which invariably means you need people in there.

#4 for me.

for general site seeing the baths of caracalla are worth a visit, they are pretty massive.

Really like the way you've captured the light coming in through the church window in the 5th photo.
Did you use any filters shooting into the sun in the 7th one and what processing did you use in the shot. Got a nice lazy summers evening feel to it.
Superb exposure on the night shot of the Colosseum although I'd be tempted to clone out the plane / helicopter light you see between that and the moon as its a little distracting.

Nice to have to opportunity to combine work with a bit of photography in such a lovely city as well. :)

Thanks for the comments.

Adamau - Yeh I didn't really want to get the 'usual' photos, and with some nice prime lenses with me I wanted to get some 'candid' shots of people.

Derek - No filters. I travel on business, so I can just about get my camera and lenses with me, no room for any more kit :(
I did notice that plane in the colosseum pic, I will get rid of it at some point.
Post processing was levels adjustment, and a it of a boost in saturation - that was it :)

:)

What a fantastic set! I love the one of Fontana di Trevi - beautiful colours and light! #7 is one I really like aswell, especially as I would never have the courage to shoot into the sun!

PS. Did you try the icecream? YUM! :p

Love the one looking into the setting sun with the girl on the wall.

How much of this was handheld?

All handheld.

I travel everywhere on business, so I'm lucky I can find space for a D3 and lens(es)

Shots like the colosseum one make me glad I spend the extra $$ on a D3. ISO1000 - no noticeable noise to worry about - even shot at night.

Ad - I'm pleased you like that one, that was probably my favourite of the trip - one of those shots that just come from nothing. I noticed her as I turned around briefly lol!

I should add that the Trevi Fountain shot was taken by resting my camera on a pillar, so I could get a long exposure. But I was restricted to what I could get in the frame :(

Nice set of shots :) I'm off to Barcelona for a 3 day conference next month, I might take my camera along but it's unlikely I will have time for any photography unfortunately.
