A few upgrade questions (Android / Orange)

1. I'm always due in a New Year (Jan 2010, 2012, 2014 etc). I got away with getting my Galaxy SII 2 months early in Nov 2011. What is the leeway nowadays? Think it's 45 days, thus mid-Nov for me?

2. Will I be moved to EE or is there still the choice?

3. Will they pressure me into their Orange Care insurance again like they did with the Galaxy SII?

4. Will I have to re-mortgage my house for a Note 3? I.e. £50/month over 2 years which is like £1200 O.o

5. Android: does app-to-SD work like portable apps for a PC? Firefox etc can be copied to a USB stick and can run on another machine regardless of the drive letter.

6. What about apps that I have purchased? Can they be app-to-SD'd to my next phone? Have got a few games including Transformers and Worms that I wouldn't mind transferring over as they were £3-£5 each. Then again, I had a separate £5 purchase of Worms on my old Sony-Ericsson P990i which I lost when I went to my next phone.

Cheers!

From the apps side, you can just download anything you purchased from Google Play again as long as you use the same Google account.

1. You have the choice 100%
2. Care is always option, yes they will try sell as they targeted on it, just decline it.
3. Yep the note 3 is still silly money at the moment

4 - quidco, top cashback, mobile phones direct, threaten to quit. Or just don't buy a phone you can't afford if this is an issue.
5 - Nope, re-install it from the market. It's possible to do a backup via Titanium backup if you want something to look into - look up a guide.
6 - Apps are on your my apps tab now. Play Store - My Apps - All Tab. A SE P990 is 8 years old, phones didn't transfer java apps very easily in those days. If you still like worms it's on sale all the time on Android/iOS.

Thanks for the answers everyone!

BigBruiserAl - you said for qu.1 that I have 100% choice regarding to leeway. I thought it used to be 3 months for Orange and that it's less than that now?

Shoot sorry mate was on my tablet when I wrote that and read number one as two lol sorry.

So to confirm yes it now 45days from the end for upgrades and you can choose ee or orange 100% your choice

Ahh thanks! That means I'll be able to upgrade in mid-Nov :-) Hopefully the Note 3 will have dropped by a smidgen and couple it up with a loyalty discount. For the Galaxy SII, the loyalty discount meant that I paid £32/month instead of their asking rate of £36/month.

Customer loyalty discounts don't exist in the phone world. Or very very very rarely at best. Just because they told you you got a £4 discount doesn't mean you couldn't have saved an additional £5/month somehwere else...

I'd do some web research before you make your call so you can challenge them when they offer you a crummy "deal".
