So people is a fish slice a spatula or a completely different kitchen utensil?

Have to say I didn't know what you meant by fish slice (actually not sure what I'd call that), but in my book it definitely isn't a spatula. A spatula is a) longer before the bend and b) solid - a bent pallet knife, if you will.

I have a feeling this is horses for courses, though

Both different utensils but a fish slice is a type of spatula/turner. Heard them be called an egg slice too.

iirc they are different things, but even though i know that, i would still call a fish slice a spatula, just seems easier.

A fish slice is a type of spatula, but it should be shaped more like this (as opposed to a regular typical spatula shape)....
