Ok so recently I have been eyeing up how much it would cost me to rebuild my rig. I thought I had finished everything sorted until it dawned on me just how much I actually like the look of my Fractal Arc Midi case.

So instead of going out and buying a whole new case which I was going to have to do a little bit of modding work to I thought why not go ahead and build my new rig inside my current case, not only would this allow me to keep hold of the case I have which I think has a lovely aesthetic to it. It would also allow me to save some much needed moneys as well.

So this will be my build and mod log for this new rig, it will be quite an extended one as I will have to slowly upgrade parts as I sadly don't have to spare cash to just go out and buy it all at once which is a bugger but hey hoe can't always have it your own way.

Here is what my current setup looks like:-

Now whats going to change in regards to the outside of my case is one thing really and that is that I'm planning on putting a window in the side panel as I find that the main problem I have with dust at the moment is that it's coming through the grill on said side panel.

Below are pictures of the current rigs interior which as you can see from the pictures is not the neatest of interiors, which will be sorted once I start putting new bits in to the case.

When I do start pulling this beast apart I will be taking everything out and giving it a good old blast with an air compressor to remove all the dust.

My plan is to water cool these parts

3770K
2x 670's (still not sure yet whether to go for the 4Gb versions or stick to the 2Gb versions)
2x 240mm Rads (might swap out the current one for something a little thicker) but the second rad will be around the 60 to 80mm mark.
Push pull on with SP Performance Corsairs blue.
Plus Blue pastel Mayhems.

So watch this space for updates!!!

i think a lot of people will say dont bother with the 4gb versions. unless you play some games with loads of mods and or at really high resolutions.

best of luck!

That is what I thought might be the case, I was planning on adding another monitor in the future but not right now.

Here is a picture of how I was planning the lay out, I did think about putting the rad vertical at the front but looking at the actual layout inside the case it seems to me that this wouldn't be possible. Unless I fixed in a stand of some kind to hold the rad in place.

How the side panel will look after acrylic window is popped in side.

Was actually thinking of swapping out the current 140's in the front with corsair af's and using them in a push pull with two 120s on the rad.
