A games easier than they used to be?

having a sega megadrive thingy on my phone I've tried completing the lion king the other day, god I sucked, had to use the save feature, and jurrasic park is solid too!

I am currently playing through Rayman again after buying it off the PSN store. Games have definitely become way easier. Platformers of the last 5 years are so stupidly easy compared to Rayman, which hardly tolerates jumping about on a whim. It's the same for all the old PS1 platformers. Those were the hardest ones, and the new ones that have appeared on PS2 and beyond are extremely easy and toned down by comparision. You could even go back to the days of Ghouls and Goblins & Contra and compare them to similair games today. The difference in difficulty is astronomical.

I dont think games are easier just too many people play them on normal or easy.

If you find a game too easy just bump upto hard.

Games have changed though, originally games were meant to be hard to encourage you to pay more money to keep playing them as they were predominately featured in arcades. Nowadays all (well 90%) games appear on home consoles and the game needs you to enjoy it so you'll buy the sequel that comes out next year.

There's been a big shift in game design. Games now concentrate on letting the player have fun and enjoy the experience rather than being frustrating and ridiculously hard. I imagine it must be fairly gutting to put all that effort into making a game but then most people giving up before they see most of it.
