I bought my last rig from OCUK almost five years ago and it's really showing its age. The Radeon 9700 Pro has held up brilliantly, but I can just imagine it struggling with hectic games of TF2 on anything other than the absolute minimum settings. It's time for a new machine, but I have absolutely no idea what is happening with hardware these days. Dual cores? SATA? Could someone spec me a computer (including a monitor, keyboard and mouse) for £550? It's going to be moved about a fair bit, so a smaller case is better.

One more thing. I don't need this computer until late September; will I get more bang for my buck by waiting? Ta.

Ok, here's a first attempt. Only thing is there's no sound card, so fine if you can live with on board. I'd change the PSU to an FSP sparkle, I put the OCUK huntkey in as the FSP's are OOS and since they are about the same price. To be honest £550 is a difficult ask for a full gaming system.

You can save more on keyboard and mouse but thats a nice mouse :)

Theres going to be a price drop for intel chips in late July, see the CPU forum, would be worth waiting for more bang for your buck.

Aye, but it can't be helped. Thanks for putting that together - it looks pretty decent for the money.
