Demand has most likely done that, other stores will follow suit no doubt. :(
But look on the bright side the Asus Ares has gone down to an even £1000.

The thing is if AMD discount the price of the HD5870 to much new customers will come along and think that the GTX480 has got to be exponentially faster and would rather go with that, so unless AMD releases a faster single card in the coming months it's hard to see any sort of discounts on it.

The V2 is a nice looking card, I don't know if its noisy or not you best read up on some of the reviews (just Google Asus HD5870 V2 review) but it does come with a 3 year warranty which for me is important when spending that much money.
 
Nope, most stores have remained at current OCUK prices, OCUK looked to have a promotion on a for a few week and now it's over.

Awesome. That card actually looks really good raven. Good factory overlook on it will come in handy as I'm not really confident overclocking a graphics card.
