Hello,

I am looking to build an i5 system for a family member. The budget is approximately £550 - £600, and I am looking for the system to be reliable, lasting for at least 5 years whilst giving good and steady performance.

The screenshot shows what I have at the moment. I'm a little unsure if the PSU has enough juice, but the problem is that I already own that PSU so would prefer to use it.

Also, I'm not sure if the RAM is a bit overkill?

Any help or advice would be appreciated, I have been out of the hardware loop for a while now so I'm just beginning to find my feet again :)

if its for general use then i wouldn't bother with the ssd if budget is a major issue, any reason you've gone for 2 of the wd 1tb's over the 2tb version ?

psu should should be fine.

no dvd-rw or case listed ?

would you consider an am3 system, the i5 socket is already set to be replaced, and amd helped crossover with mobo's able to take am2 and am3 processors, might do the same for their next socket.

What monitor resolution do you have? I would get a 4890 myself, but it depends on how many pixels you are pushing.

I would also lose the SSD, and one of the HDDs. You can get them later, as and when you really need them.
