Hi,

I am in the market for a descent juicing machine for making juice from fruit and veg.

No budget but i would like one that is easy to clean and does not waste food (to get the best bang for buck return from the fruit and veg).

Thank you kindly.

I was always under the impression cold press machines were the best type to go for (couldn't give specific brands/models) but the nutri bullet ones chop the veg etc the cold press crush it and you get more of the good stuff out of them.
You pay a lot more for the cold press ones though.

Nutribullet worth it alone for the time it takes to clean it... 10 seconds.

Might as well eat ALL the veg/fruit and adding water is a good thing.

The Nutribullet seems to me more of a smoothie maker rather than a juicer

And why do you add water?!?

It is really.

I bought the Aldi own make Nutribullet and find myself adding much more veg to things - eg I make my own soups, pasta/curry sauces etc using loads of different veg, I can even throw in things I don't like :p I find it very convenient and it's definitely increased my fruit/veg intake. If I have fruit/veg on the turn, I jsut chuck them in the nutribullet and make use of them :D

It DOESN'T do juice though, it is more of a smoothie. My parents have a proper Nutribullet and that doesn't either, though it does chop things marginally better than my copy.

You add water so you aren't consuming so much sugar... i.e. if you blended 8 strawberries, 2 apples, an orange, a banana and some cherries, you wouldn't have that much in terms of volume, but it contains more fruit than you would eat in a sitting and is much easier to drink... adding water dilutes it so it goes further. Similarly, you are meant to add predominantly vegetables, rather than fruit for the same reason.

If you want juice, get a juicer. Although I would recommend the Nutribullet for the reasons above, it isn't the same.

It is better to consume the whole fruit, juicing increases your sugar intake too high IMO. At least with a blender you get the whole fruit.
Only thing i use the juicer for is making cider, or when you want to add things like grapes where the skins don't blend very well.

This

Juice alone is not very good for you. Fructose is Fructose you need the offset that comes along with the fruit so you body can balance and process everything correctly.

then you want to eat it whole.
blending it still breaks it down into a liquid sugary mess that is quickly absorbed, so if that's the reason your doing it, then its wrong.
you will however still get the fibre for your bowel etc.

Magimix Le Duo juicer - they do a a number of versions. I think I have the XL. I've used a number of juicer over the years. Fairly easy to use and clean. Bought it Amazon Warehouse for <£120, still going strong after 5 years or so.
