A good stable motherboard needed

if your after sli you are going to have to look towards the older 680, 750, 780i boards I would deffinately stay well clear of the 790i boards they are full of issues I am still getting over purchasing the asus striker II extreme and now moving over to intel chipset x38/x48 but thats crossfire and not sli

All the Nvidia chipset boards have issues. Actually, most of the Intel boards do too. If you want proper stability then buy an Intel branded Intel chipset board. There is nothing more stable.

That does rule out overclocking though... At least compared to most other intel chipset mobos out there.

Of course when you want stability you shouldnt really overclock i guess.

Agreed, I've been using gen Intel boards for over ten years now and they are rocks when it comes to stability, the newer boards do allow you to o/c but the options are usually quite basic and o/c performance is usually under par, I've got my Badaxe running my E6300 @ 2.7, thats about as far as I could push it.

I thought you should steer well clear of the nvidia 650i and 680i chipset motherboards... You can pick them up pretty cheap from the bay though...
