A good starting place to learn

Evening all,

I'm posting a bit about upgrades or a new system build.

In an atempt to seem not completely amateurish about it all I'm trying to learn as I go.

I landed on a Youtuber called Pauls Hardware.

Is that a safe place and is his advice pretty much accurate.

I like his style of presenting but don't want to spend a ton of time listening if his advice is dubious.

Thoughts?

Personally I'd say watch several different builds to get a rounded perspective.
Bitwit does lots of builds, and is a personal friend of Paul's Hardware.
GamersNexus did an 18min build in response to an article that said how hard it is to build a PC. GamersNexus is a more technical channel generally.
Linus Sebastian does some builds.

They're all quite reliable information wise as they all have thousands of followers and would get challenged if they misrepresented anything.

Do you have an outline of what you want to build?

I do.... I have a few posts here currently as I was initially trying to establish if my current system could be upgraded which was, unsurprisingly, a "no".

However this question was a little more generic. I just wanted to be a little more aware of what is going on in the market without pestering everyone here all the time with tons of questions.

I guess I want to know a little more than "Does this build work".

No problem, I'd certainly have a look at several of those channels then.

And don't put too much thermal paste on the cpu!

Pauls hardware is fine to watch. I watch them some of the time, despite not really needing too. He also does a monthly Q&A thing, in which he answers some questions that viewers have so they might be worth watching the playlist of. He also has a fairly comprehensive build guide for modern systems that he did at some point fairly recently (in the last year, maybe?) which he probably has a playlist of.
