Hello all.

I've just gone PCI Express and am running an AMD 3500 with 2gb corsair ram.
Haven't decided on the GPU yet. A part of me thinks the X1800XT is just awesome for the money, but as I've also fitted a 500watt PSU I',m tempted to go that bit further and go for an X1900XT. 512 meg is a must for a little future proofing.

Any thoughts? Not worried about DX10 yet as i expect it will be a while before the games filter through. :)

Brand and model?

Both the X1800 XT and X1900 XT are great prices so probably best to consider the res and settings you play at. If your happy at 1280 x 1024 with a little AA/AF for example, then an X1900 XT would be total overkill and the X1800 XT would last you fine till DX10.

Totally dependant on your settings and with a new card within the year a distinct possibility the extra RAM could be wasted.

The quickest card available in the price bracket is the connect 3d X1900XT-X (£258inc so just a tad over budget) however I would save yourself £50 or so my taking the standard connect 3d X1900XT for £211 of the slightly more expensive but quieter HIS X1900XT.
