Ok I'm currently on adsl24 on a fixed 2mb service & my line stats seem ok

2272
26db line attenuation
22db noise

on the calculator its seems like I can get 16mb on their 24mb service, spoke to their sales & they confirmed this but I'm unsure as I play games aswell as download. The problem is I know my line is not great with interleaving off so what sorta ping would I expect with interleaving on (60ish?) also is it really worth it going to be?

please help me out with it before I take the plunge

Kev!

With BE I ping my East coast USA gaming server for 90ish EU servers 33ish. Thats with interleaving ON.

also is it really worth it going to be?

Best thing I ever did, I download at 2MB/s - One thing I will say though as you are a online gamer like myself, I am getting a lot of dissconnects and reconnects, not concerned yet as I assume the line is just doing it's training thing and will do that for a couple of weeks (I just joined BE this week).

Well I say a lot, it's dc'd 4 times since Monday.

I would definitely switch to them, if only for the fact that it costs less than ADSL24 and you will definitely get a speed increase if you were quoted that speed.

Send them a ticket and ask them to turn DLM off. It's not mandatory.

ok so want interleaving on as I know my line was iffy without it when I was with BT & adsl24 on max so this is a must. Apart from *** mass increase in speed from my fixed connection how many issues are people having with Be?

DNS is "iffy" but hey that can be resolved in seconds anyway.

That aside there's no real issues. Like any ISP (or business for that matter) someone, somewhere will have a bad word to say but on the whole they're recommended by so many people for a reason. I'll leave you to work that one out ;)

last one before I need to count my pennies, O2 is actually cheaper & does not charge for a connection fee & Be is O2 do you thing going O2 instead of Be would be a sensible choice considering these factors. BTW 12 month contract I can deal with but written notice in 3 months I can be done with.

o2 £15 per month for 20 Mb, Be £18 per month for 24 Mb. Both unlimited downloads and both similar upload speeds.

Not much in it at all. If 16 Mb is right with Be, then you're looking at 12 Mb with o2, still very impressive.

Personally, I'd pay the extra £3 for the faster download speed. I've been really impressed with Be, stable connection for months now.

just been on the phone to O2 & they said I would get the 16mb which is all my line can achieve anyway (well he said 17mb for the 20mb service) so for £3 I'd gain what 1mb maybe depending on stats

Mine did the same for the first few weeks and then it settled down. I personally recommend Be, amazing service. Was having issues with connecting to the net due to DNS issues, rang them up and my connection was backup within 30 mins.
