A little challenge for all you hardware guru’s

Im looking to upgrade my pc and create from the spare parts a HTPC system.

my current system:-

A64 3500(939)
dfi cfx2000
ati 1900xt
1gb ram
DTV card
2 DVD's
2 ide hd's
3 sata hd's

other stuff i have knocking around:-

abit 939 mb agp(ATX)
a tower case (no psu)
ati 9800np gfx card
1gb of damaged DDR pc4200 ram i "might" be able to rma.


required systems:-

**dual core system as my main rig**
has to include all my hd's and preferably the dvd's out of my old rig.

**HTPC system**
preferably in a desktop style case
dvd rw
and the DTV card from my old rig.

ive set my self a budget of £330 inc vat

any one got any ideas what i should spend my money on.

just to make things clear im wanting to create 2 systems.

1 main dual core rig (with all the good stuff from my old system)

and

1 HTPC system (from leftovers + any required new stuff)

Not really sure what your asking as its not too clear.

I'm thinking you want to upgrade your current reg to a Dual core ssytem ?

If so simply buy a dual core processor AMD 939 x2 3800 or AMD 939 x2 4200.
Both on OCUK main page and both cheap.
And some 2gb Geil Value ram.

Should be able to get for under £200.

i cant remember exactly but i think its a enermax 470w?

Enermax® Noisetaker Series Power Supply - EG495AX-VE(W)SFMA (485 Watt)

will have to wait till i get home to confirm, was ages ago i got it and cant remeber the exact model.

best bet is to build your main rig then see what you have left and work from there..
