Hi all,

I have been having some problems with my card and some of the 353 point work units. I havent really had time to investigate with exams going on, but im done and want to try and get to the bottom of the problem. I saved a few of the problematic WUs when i was getting them all the time, but they have expired and as a result wont run at all.

Unfortunately they dont seem to be all that common at the moment, so I was wondering if a kind soul who gets one of the 353 point units (particularly the 5765, 5767 and 5769 units - 577x seem to be fine) could copy and paste your queue.dat, work folder and unitinfo.txt file and sling them to the email in my trust account? I wont complete the WUs and submit them - this is purely for my own testing.

Thanks

Will do when I next get one :)

Is it just a case of when I see it has one copying the the files you say, or do I have to stop folding that unit etc?

Um... I guess just stop the client and copy the files. It would probably be fine to do it whilst the client is going, but the GPU client writes to the files pretty quickly, and i dont want to corrupt your results!

Cheers Happy - it will be a big help.

Yes please - it would be great. I'll post my email up here - if you could reply back when you have it written down i'll remove it. Cheers.

REMOVED

Cheers Mate, much apreciated.

Thanks Didgemaster. Helped me get to the bottom of the problem... seems there is something wrong with my install of Vista. The unit you sent me folds just fine on Server 2008 on exactly the same hardware, but fails miserably on Vista. Guess its reinstall time (or at least it will be soon...).

Thanks again guys.

Thanks. Currently uumming and arring over a reinstall... Tempted to upgrade some parts to be honest and get a fresh start with a new system... Hmmm. Descisions!

I have been having a go with the release candidate of Server 2008 R2 (Windows 7 server) to try and get Hyper-V working with the GPU client without massive desktop lag. It works well now, much better than server 2008 when i tried in Jan/Feb. Apart from that, aside from a few small changes, i dont think its too different to Vista. I quite like the new taskbar, and Server 2008 R2 did feel pretty snappy, but Vista is certainly no slouch. The only problem with server 2008 is that the only antivirus software that i can get to work is Sophos, which is pretty crappy when compared with Kaspersky (which doesnt work without hacking the installer).

I have a burned Windows 7 DVD here and will probably put it on in the next few days... I just dont want to have to waste more time if i decide to have a bit of a hardware overhaul! I need a couple more HDDs as it is, its just im not so sure if splurging on i7 is a good idea or not... Perhaps i should put it out to Team 10 - is upgrading a good idea...?

They systematically fail for me, every single 576x unit, so im not so sure they are dodgy WUs. As i mentioned, the same unit folds fine on Server 08 R2 on the same PC (same hardware), so i think its a problem my end somewhere.

never had a problem with any of the 353 pointers. In fact I can clock my card a lot higher with these units than the 768 which always give me nans unless I clock my card back

Same as snapshot - xp pro 32bit - not had a single error since I fitted the aero (but my office boxen only has a 80mm fan so temps were the issue at the time) and I've heaveily clocked the shaders (and small clocks to core and mem)
