A little help on whether these are compatible?

Hello ;)

My PC is pretty old processor-wise and I only have about £90 to spare, so I thought I'd leap from a dual to a quad to tide me over for a few months when I can buy a whole new system (November).

I have this motherboard that is AM2+ which I believe allows the running of AM3 processors albeit at a reduced rate. I'm on BIOS revision F3 and need advice on which processor would be compatible with the board.

I was looking at this and need to know if it'll work for me? and if not I would appreciate some recommendations on what quad core will work.

Thanks. :)

You found the page on Gigabyte's website why not just click on the CPU Support List?

If you did you'd find the processor you linked to is not listed as supported.

The only quad core OcUK sell which is on the supported list is this one.

I did, but I'm a noob and needed a second nod from somebody who knew for sure what they were talking about.

Thanks for your help, I'll buy the one you linked to. :)

PC wouldn't recognize that BIOS.

I just bit the bullet and got a "Titan Krypt" with a 6870. :)

Seems powerful enough and reasonable for my needs.

Free Delivery. Love OCUK
