A little help please

Hi, having some visual issues at the moment, im gettin crazy couloured distorted lines on my screen, sometimes just briefly but quite constent in this session. i have a screenshot where you can see my issues. http://www.capeverdebreaks.com/whatsthis.JPG

its a ati 9700 pro gcard, not on most recent drivers because they caused an issue of like frame slowdown when u scroll threw a folder or anything, and wouldnt display my digi tv card. so i rolled back.

athlon 2800xp
1gb duel channel ram
all around 4years old now i think.

Have you tried using an assortment of existing drivers? Like older drivers from ATI and the installation disc you got with the card? If the problem remains after that it seems to me like the memory on the card is b0rked!

Check the fan on the radeon make sure its still running, looks like a overheating issue, and if not it might be time to replace it i'm afraid.

Coz various issues and stuff like happen when my radeon 9500 fan died, i replaced the fan its still going in another PC now, so i guess i got lucky, other then heat or fan failure it could be dead.

Of course you get lucky and find its drivers...... but i doubt it from looking at the screenshot.

Hadn't thought about that, and thats what happened to my 9800 Pro just a few months back, the stock cooling fan had trouble spinning and wouldn't spin at certain times. I ended up buying an Arctic cooling setup for it.

I used a heatsink and fan from a 9800, took a bit of work, coz it started off too big, but with a little patience i made it fit.

Few cable ties and some compound, and job done...

That was a few years ago at the least now and its still going...... rock on 9500!! lol
