Hello everyone

I recently completed my first ever build, prob just over two months ago.
Specs are as follows:

I7 950 (no overclock)
asus x58 sabre-tooth motherboard
corsair 750 watt psu
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel
antec 1200
akasa venom heat sink
asus 6950

Basically over the last few days i have noticed my computer being slow to respond at first i thought it was my browser as it seemed to only be happening when opening and closing Firefox or opening a new tab.
I reinstalled Firefox to see apps such as windows media player, steam, vlc, iTunes ect lag also.I click on a app and a few seconds later it will open, or i will try to minimize or expand an app and it will take a few seconds to respond.
I usually run c cleaner, disk cleanup, defragger, malware scan, antivirus scan, anti spyware scan and all that good stuff weekly so i have ruled those out as remedies.

I recently wiped allot of big applications from my OS like 3ds max and others but don't think that was the problem as it was happening before i done this, however it seems to have got worse since.
Does anybody have any ideas what my problem could be?Any help at all would be appreciated, i really don't wont to re install my OS to find out it wasn't the problem.
What is the chances it could be static damage from when i built the computer? I grounded myself properly and all that so i hope to god it isn't as that would be a total bummer.

Thanks again

Are you running a HDD or an SSD?

SSDs shouldnt be defragged. Does your SSD support TRIM? If not then you NEEEEEED to run some garbage collection. Read speeds should still be fantastic though so there must be a problem elsewhere. How much RAM is being used in Task manager?

No, forgive my noobiness never heard of trim :(
Its at 20 % which i think is what its normally at when running iTunes and Firefox, CPU usage is between 2 and 13 percent which is a little higher then it used to be running those two apps.Reckon it could be a virus? When i run full scan on avast it never comes back with anything however it does say it could not scan some folders when it finishes.

cheers
