Hi guys just wondering if you could help me out a bit. My motherboard is dying I could just buy another AM3 board to replace it but was going to upgrade when BD came out. With no sign of that for the moment i'm considering upgrading to SB. I have 2 options im looking at the first is

Krypton MAXIMUM OC Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz @ 4.60GHz Plus Bundle

this takes the headache out of overclocking for me as I have used AMD for the last 5 years or so and not really been near Intel

The 2nd option is to get the bits and build my own im thinking along the lines of

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.80GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM
Asus P67 Sabertooth Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION **
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9)
Corsair Hydro H60 CPU Cooler with free Akasa Apache Fan (Socket LGA1366 / 1155 / 1156 / 775 / AM2 / AM3)

both come out around the £500 mark so the question I think im trying to get at is the SB a hard chip to OC or is having experience with AMD and reading up on it going to be fine.

If you just use your computer for gaming and general apps use then the 2500k is the most sensible option.

And the SB is the simplest CPU ever to overclock with a quality MB. If you're after a modest ~4.4Ghz then it's usually just a case of upping the multiplier to 44 then save and exit.

In most cases it's that simple - but it's wise to get to know your BIOS and settings further...
