ok, sorry to post such a dumb question, but im struggling in vista 64 to find out what version nvdida gforce drivers ive got.

Ive gone to device manager
displsy adapters
winfast gtx280(nvidia)
right click properties
driver tab

it says my driver version is: 7.15.11.7742 not digitally signed.

is this right for a brand new gfx card? the driver came off the disk i got with the card.

when i go to nvidia it says the latest driver for the g280 is:
177.41 WHQL june 28
there is also a beta available: 177.92

however none of these numbers makes any sense compared the the number vista is reporting. even if i only read the last 5 digits of the number vista gave me 1.7742 and interperet that as 177.42 then this driver is more recent than the latest nvidia driver??!?

Im a little confused here...any help appreciated even if its calling me stupid and yelling a bit - at least i can get to the bottom of this.

Cheers

You want the 177.83. They are digitally signed WHQL and they have the Physx stuff included. They are fine for me with Vista 64.

are there any problems with the 177.92 betas guys?

also, where do i get the 177.83's from? they werent listed on the nvidia site when i asked for all drivers for the 280, beta or otherwise.

Cheers

177.83's will be from Xfastest (as they do Nvidia's drivers), you'll probably also find them up at Guru3D and LaptopVideo2Go, as they grab them from Xfastest to host themselves (which is better as Xfastest is Chinese, so its all in gobbledegook) as Nvidia hardly release drivers, they could take 6+ months to put one up, so if you want the very latest and want to keep up to date (which you will need to do for all the new games fixes more than likely, as they come out all the time), then your best of checking Xfastest/Guru3D/LaptoVideo2go, not Nvidia, as they normally put em out on a weekly basis.

I used to as it only took seconds, i just Add/Removed the drivers, rebooted as it said, then cancelled the Found New Hardware Wizards that popped up, ran DriverSweeper, then just installed new drivers. :)

Lately I've had no trouble installing them over the top of the old ones, but if I have problems then I use Loadsa's method.
