A little help with upgrade

I'm currently running a system with a i7 4790k paired with a 1080Ti, now I regularly try to refrain from upgrading much yearly leaving most components in my system for 2-3 years but I feel like I should upgrade to a i5 8600K but in doing so I would have to replace my motherboard and RAM, now in the coming years with my current specs will my system be maxed out or still useable I ask this because I saw the required specs for 4K gaming slowly reaching newer generation CPU's.

pointless upgrade currently. save your money or go for the 8700k

The 4790k is still good for at least a couple of years more yet, especially when overclocked. I have no plans to get rid of mine anytime soon. Currently there is no upgrade that is worth the cost when you take into account the small performance increase you will get.

If you haven't got a G-sync 1400p/ultrawide /100-165hz screen , might be money worth spent
