Hi,

I have some images all 2099px wide by 1537px high which I would like to place side by side right next to each other in a montage to be printed in 30x40" or 30x45" from Photobox. I believe the resolution Photobox print at this size is 254ppi, so by Paint.net's calculation I need a 7620x10160px canvas...

The trouble is I don't know:

1) Whether this canvas size is correct
2) Whether to shrink the individual photos to fit the canvas, or bung all the photos in order then resize the canvas to 7620x10160px
3) Choice of Matt or Gloss for the finish bearing in mind it will be framed in a glass frame.

Hope someone can help it's been ages I've done this kind of stuff, and only have paint and paint.net to work with

Regardless of the size issues, Download inkscape and use that to build the big image file. Free and so so much better than photoshop!

right, thanks for the tip! I'm finding it very hard to get used to Paint.net. I prefer mspaint as I'm more familiar with it!

edit. crikey this program is amazing! so easy to use compared to paint.net and quicker performance! (using the x64 version)

if you struggle, upload them somewhere, send them to me and i'll do it for you.

That's very kind of you thanks very much. I managed it in the end last night, found it 100x easier with InkScape than Paint.net or GIMP and managed it last night.

Now I'm just annoyed with Photobox that I've gone to great effort to make a high res image but their maximum file size is 25MB

Hi again, I have decided to ditch photobox in favour of Aldi photo as it's half the price and will accept my 80MB file....BUT....their formats are different, so I have this situation. what would you do!?

Print like that and trim the edge. The difficulty is always finding a frame the right size so I would actually do that first

Good point about the frame I'll have a look. The only thing that I'm nervous about is that they'll do some weird resizing to fit themselves. The only way I can think to mitigate that is to hard add the white space myself

If its still canvas he won't be able to trim it down.

Either redo it to the new sizes and add borders inbetween the photos to space it out (would be easier to advise if we could see the image) OR decrease the image file size and stick with photobox. You do not need a super sharp image for canvas printing, so even decreasing the quality to 80% could really help.

cheers for the message, it's not for a canvas it's for a photo print so I could print it.

there's nothing secret about the picture lol it's just some game box arts. Spacing them out could work really I wanted a full block effect but I may try it with spaces

fair enough, although if its just game box arts fitting them into a comic book style boxing system might look really good :)
