Hi,

I recently bought a couple of games, and neither of them work on my system, due to my sucky graphics card. My computer is about 3 years old now, and I'm not sure whether to upgrade the whole system, or just my graphics card. I have to stick to AGP if i dont get a new set-up, since thats all my mobo allows.

This is my current spec:
Intel Pentium 4 2.66GHZ cpu
1gb RAM
Elsa Falcox Radeon 920FX (Radeon 9200 AGP) 128mb gpu
80gb HDD

Potentially, i have up to £900 for a new system, but is it worth me forking out for one, or should i just stick to buying a powerful gpu?

Any help would be appreciated.

As suggested by zomb, I'd hang on til 2007 before a major rig update.

Save your cash for the time being and get a decent-ish AGP card to tide you over until more affordable directx 10 complaint gfx cards come out in the new year. Hell, you could even splash out a get another gig or ram too.

Only circ £200 for both....

Actually if youcan't wait, you could try this as a starting point and spend more cash on more storage, more ram, a faster cpu or better gfx:

I never suggested that. Seems a little late in the day to be throwing money at AGP, especially if you aren't even on to 64 bit procs yet.

Swap the 7900 for an X1900 xt, throw in another gig of ram and you've got something a lot more durable for the new year. Think about selling the gfx card mid next year and upgrading to a directx 10 offering.

You'll probably be about on budget if you get a different case and a descent PSU.
