Rain or shine he pushed his two wheel bin cart around the streets. He collected oil cans from the chippies and drink cans from the waste bins in the square and around. Anything he considered salvable which would fit on his cart, he rescued. The council wanted him to leave his council home but a petition secured his tenancy.
Today was his funeral. The police diverted traffic away from the church so that a sizeable crowd could gather. Afterwards the cortege progressed through the town preceded by two police officers and two more brought up the rear, behind the procession of local people.
A common sight around town not to be seen again. Goodbye Slick.
