Can a mod/don clarify once and for all what the rules are about posting info/screenshots/discussing games that aren't released yet and/or just happen to coincide with a 'leaking' of the game on the internet.

Now, I'm sure this thread will attract those that happily download games/post on the forum about it. Not really interested in it to be honest - i don't want to hear the 'pros'/cons of what you're doing/how it doesn't affect anyone/how it makes you all so very awesome - probably like quite a few others on here.

There are SO many posts in both the console and PC game forums it's ridiculous. Every other ******* thread has it. Either enforce the rules that apparently are in place, or don't. But please let us know where we stand so there's no confusion.

All this talk about dodgy versions of games and not ONCE have I seen a moderator step in/delete a post/issue a warning/suspension. This lack of enforcing the rules just encourages people to do it and DISCOURAGES those that are trying to help limit those sorts of posts.

So, where do we stand exactly?

Tbh i think it's fine when people discuss the act of piracy, what i dislike is when people prattle on about how awesome a game is that hasn't been released; someone shouldn't gain boasting rights by doing the wrong thing. If someone pirate games, that's perfectly fine with me, just don't tell me about the game until i've had a chance to play it myself :p

I have to agree with Streeteh, piracy doesnt bother me (I've pirated music in the days of Napster) but the sometimes smug attitude is irritating. I know you've got the game early, but so have thousands of other pirates :p

Totally agree, i did bring this very matter to the attention of the moderators when i was banned from the members market :( fell on deaf ears...seems all they monitor will a rule of iron is that board.

I'll post a full reply when I'm not on my iPod touch. But they are all being noted and acted upon. We don't have any dedicated dons in the console section but with rtms and the UB's there's no reason why we can't completely end the piracy issue.

The policy is you can only post directly about the game before uk release if you can provide pictorial evidence.

Will post more details later.

Grown men moaning about people posting pictures of games... LOL

It isn't the pictures that irk me, an example would be if you read through the Fallout 3 thread in the PC gaming sections. There's quite a collection of people describing how features work or whats good and whats bad etc, i personally would like to discover these things for myself as that's one of the most fun parts of playing a game. It's because of that sort of thing that i've just stopped reading the thread.

i dont mind too much as long as those who have the game well before release date (like at least a week before) do not spoil it for everyone else - at the discretion of the mod what kind of comments are no go.

i can just about live with "ohh yeah i have game X and ive just completed it meh" before the actual release date lol... its not a race!

edit: agreed also not going anywhere near the Fallout 3 thread.due to "shenanigans" sigh oh well

As Kreeeeeeeeeeeeeee said, the situation is currently being looked at so for the time being just don't discuss how cool the unrelased game you have is:)
